Our vision is to engage people of all ages in hands-on learning, driven by curiosity and play.

Our mission is to create a hands-on, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) based attraction that exercises curiosity, promotes exploration, and develops imagination through interactivity. The science center will:

  1. Improve the quality of life for residents in the region.
  2. Increase economic impact by drawing visitors to the area.
  3. Provide partnership opportunities.
  4. Assist local employers in recruiting employees from outside the area.
  5. Open children's minds to a range of potential career opportunities.

 

The young child known as the "Plant Doctor" tended his secret garden while observing the day-to-day operations of a 19th century farm. Nature and nurture ultimately influenced George on his quest for education to becoming a renowned agricultural scientist, educator, and humanitarian.

CBA is a 501c3 that exists as a "Friends of the Park" association for the George Washington Carver National Monument.

Joplin History & Mineral Museum is home to the Everett J. Ritchie Tri-State Mineral Collection, Dorothea B. Hoover Historical Museum, and the National Historical Cookie Cutter Museum.

George A. Spiva Center for the Arts is Joplin's independent community arts center. Year round, exhibitions and special events in four galleries feature local, regional, and nationally known artists; hands-on classes attract students of all ages. Celebrating the creative experience since 1948. 

The Wildcat Glades Friends Group was formed to protect the area known as Wildcat Park and the surrounding chert glade environment, habitat, and wildlife by promoting awareness and sustainability, providing education and recreation space and programs, and sponsoring nature-based activities.
