Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine seeks an Assistant Director of Assessment as full-time staff to join the College of Dental Medicine. The Assistant Director of Assessment will support the College of Dental Medicine’s programs by assisting faculty and staff to assess and improve student learning outcomes and program effectiveness. Responsibilities include assessment instruments, assessment effectiveness, assessment findings, and the development of assessment and accreditation reports, such as the Outcomes Assessment Plan, reports to accreditors and university advisory boards, extramural funding performance, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists faculty in designing, implementing, and improving assessments within the College of Dental Medicine based on student learning and effectiveness outcomes
  • Supports continuous academic program assessments (curricular and co-curricular activities) and improvement of student learning
  • Leads the development, organization, analysis and reporting of student learning outcomes and related activities
  • Knowledgeable in institutional self-assessments and student outcomes assessment principles, methods and techniques
  • Promotes internal and external communication of assessment results
  • Participates in the collection and analysis of various assessment data to support accreditation and program reviews, including dissemination of results and assisting others with understanding and appropriately using them
  • Interprets assessment findings and prepare periodic assessment reports to summarize such findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence institutional decision-making and policy development
  • Records, stores, manages, and disseminates confidential and sensitive assessment data, as appropriate
  • Uses various software programs to input, maintain, and analyze assessment data for the College of Dental Medicine
  • Works with the College of Dental Medicine Academic Affairs and Clinical Affairs offices, as well as other programs within the University, to ensure the alignment of programmatic assessment efforts
  • Maintains compliance with discipline-specific assessments and assessment-related accreditation standards, including the archival of materials needed for accreditation
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, business, statistics, mathematics, education, or another relevant field
  • Master’s degree or equivalent education and experience with student assessment and education, and five-years related experience with evaluation and assessment is preferred
  • Will consider candidates with equivalent experience and higher education
  • Experience with programmatic related compliance is highly desired
  • Experience with data collection and statistical programs preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in software programs beyond the MS Office suite
  • Ability to work independently and as a team with cultural competency and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
