The EMS Instructor/Clinical Coordinator is responsible for instruction and clinical coordination in the EMS Program in the Allied Health Division at Crowder College. In keeping with the guidelines below, the EMS Instructor/Clinical Coordinator provides instruction, supervision, and guidance to EMS students performing clinical rotations at various EMS agencies and hospitals, while also ensuring adequate student clinical site engagement. The EMS Instructor/Clinical Coordinator is directly responsible for management of all EMS student clinical contracts, including contracts for hospitals, Fire/EMS agencies, Medical Directors, and other clinical partners. The EMS Instructor/Clinical Coordinator will monitor and record student performance for completion and accuracy for each given skill assigned, while closely following the skills outlined by the NREMT National Standard Curriculum (NSC).
Essential Job Duties

will vary depending on the need(s) of the college. Priorities Include:

Maintain
accreditation Standards and Guidelines for CoAEMSP, MDHE, and the Bureau of
EMS.

Communicate with the
EMS Program Director and designated instructors regarding student performance
in classroom and clinical settings.
=
Manage and sign all
clinical contracts for EMS students (hospital, Fire/EMS, Medical Director) in
conjunction with the EMS program director.
=
Manage skills weeks
(schedule, oversight, coordination) and provide on-site guidance to students.
=
Manage and maintain
all students in EMS clinical and skill tracking software
(currently using Platinum Planner).[CD1]

Weekly visits with
local area EMS and hospital clinical partners of EMS students, ensuring
adequate student and clinical site engagement.
=
Meets regularly with
EMS Program staff including the EMS Medical Director, Program Director,
Director of Allied Health, Advisory committee, and other EMS instructors to
facilitate planning, improvements, and address staff and/or student concerns.
=
Assist in auditing
of student attendance in classroom and clinicals and assists with data entry of
student clinicals, along with management of all clinical contracts in a timely
manner.

Perform direct
teaching and demonstration of Paramedic and EMT skills and facilitate hands-on
learning.

Administer quizzes,
homework assignments, and tests while also providing feedback to students in a
timely manner, as needed.

Instruct students in
the use and care of a range of sophisticated emergency patient care equipment,
such as: cardiac monitors/defibrillators, infusion pumps, patient
immobilization equipment, and airway management equipment.

Maintain student
records per CoAEMSP and Bureau of EMS standards.
=
Teach 24 credit
hours per academic year as a regular load, along with 6 hours (3 per semester)
of release time for clinicals.

Identify curriculum
needs and develop innovative activities to address those needs.

Show commitment to
the program, division, and institution.

Assist with student
recruitment, marketing, and job placement.
=
Participate in
professional development workshops, conferences, and meetings.
=
Assist with student
advising and enrollment.

Maintains regular office
hours to respond to student and clinical needs.[CD2]
