Our vision is to engage people of all ages in hands-on learning, driven by curiosity and play.

Our mission is to create a hands-on, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) based attraction that exercises curiosity, promotes exploration, and develops imagination through interactivity. The science center will:

  1. Improve the quality of life for residents in the region.
  2. Increase economic impact by drawing visitors to the area.
  3. Provide partnership opportunities.
  4. Assist local employers in recruiting employees from outside the area.
  5. Open children's minds to a range of potential career opportunities.

Our organization was formed for the purpose of serving the public interest by providing educational opportunities and programs specifically focused on the history and technology of air and space flight.  We provide traditional style aerospace exhibits that depict the historic accomplishments of  area citizens and companies whose products and designs influenced aerospace development. Using these examples as success stories the museum inspires local students to persue aerospace careers.

The museum also provides numerous educational programs and activities to area schools, business, civic groups and the general public.

Joplin History & Mineral Museum is home to the Everett J. Ritchie Tri-State Mineral Collection, Dorothea B. Hoover Historical Museum, and the National Historical Cookie Cutter Museum.

George A. Spiva Center for the Arts is Joplin's independent community arts center. Year round, exhibitions and special events in four galleries feature local, regional, and nationally known artists; hands-on classes attract students of all ages. Celebrating the creative experience since 1948.
