White River Engineering, a Springfield, MO based firm, was acquired by Allgeier, Martin and Associates, Inc., headquartered in Joplin, MO. Since 2004, White River Engineering has been providing civil engineering services for public and private infrastructure projects including sidewalks, streets, site civil, stormwater management, wastewater collection and treatment, and potable water supply storage and distribution. The Springfield-based firm, led by Richard McMillian, P.E. and Thomas Hancock, P.E., will be joining the well-established civil and electrical engineering firm of Allgeier, Martin and Associates, Inc (AMA). The deal was finalized on Friday, April 24th.

The two firms discovered a mutual interest in joining forces. AMA had been serving the Springfield area from a branch office since 2017 and desired to grow within the Springfield market. White River had established sixteen years of exceptional service in Springfield and desired to offer a more robust range of services for large, complex projects. The addition of the White River staff brings AMA a well-rounded Springfield staff with established clientele and provides White River with a support team of additional strength to secure additional projects.

Chris Erisman, P.E., First Vice President of AMA says, “The acquisition of White River Engineering presents a great opportunity for our firm. This allows us to further expand our footprint in the Springfield, Branson and SW Missouri market. We are obtaining the services of quality Engineers that are highly respected in the area and bring a wealth of knowledge in municipal water, wastewater and stormwater systems. Allgeier, Martin is excited about the possibilities of this venture that will enable us to better serve our current and future clients in this region.”

Thomas Hancock, P.E., Principal of White River Engineering says, “The additional engineering resources provided by AMA gives White River Engineering the ability to provide a full range of engineering and land surveying services ‘in-house.’ This will give us the opportunity to pursue larger and more complex projects and grow beyond our current capabilities to compete with larger local and regional firms. Allgeier Martin’s core moral values and integrity could not be a more perfect fit for us.”

Both firms provide critical engineering services for public entities such as municipalities, counties and utilities. The goal of this deal was to bring together the talents and expertise of two firms to enhance our capabilities of partnering with our clients for the best possible project outcomes. AMA’s Springfield-based Senior Engineer, John Forrester, P.E. will be joining Mr. McMillian and Mr. Hancock in the Springfield location at 600 West College Street, Suite 104. This AMA team in Springfield will be supported by an additional 120+ staff in Joplin, MO.

Erisman also remarked, “Allgeier, Martin understands the importance of the Springfield area market to our firm. We are committed to enhancing our capabilities to better serve our existing and potential clients in this area. Our focus will be to continue to seek opportunities that will grow our presence in this region to continue to provide the high level of expertise, efficiency and resources that our clients have come to expect from our firm.”

Hancock also states, “White River Engineering looks forward to this opportunity to grow our influence in Southwest Missouri and develop new, meaningful, and lasting relationships. We will continue to provide our existing and new clients with quality, cost-effective, environmentally conscious, and long-lasting solutions.”
