Scope

 

The Quality Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is an integral part of the staff. The position has a functional reporting relationship to the Corporate Regional Quality Manager.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

* Manage internal audit system to check effectiveness of plant processes, ensuring conformance to IATF 16949 requirements, customer requirements, Global Modine Quality Management System, and plant Quality Management System procedures. Initiate corrective action when required. Report results of system performance monitoring to plant and corporate management.

 

* Monitor and report status of Customer Scorecards. Take action to work with other plant departments as needed to improve scores. Maintain positive relationships with customers.

 

* Establish and manage plant Supplier Quality management processes. Promote supplier development by driving IATF 16949 requirements up the supply chain.

 

* Using the Global 8D system facilitate plant-wide corrective and preventive action and problem resolution of customer complaints, field failures, internal and external audit findings, and supplier issues to insure prompt and effective responses. Report status to plant management.

 

* Exercise authority to prevent shipment of non-conforming products.

 

* Manage quality lab and measurement systems.

 

* Participate in quality planning for the products and processes of the plant.

 

* Mentor and build capability of all members of the Quality department. Use the PDP process to document and review personal performance and career development.

* Mentor the Quality Department in MOS continuous improvement to drive improvements in Quality processes.

 

* Work closely with cross-functional staff to develop strategy and promote long term success of the facility.

 

* Occasional travel to other Modine locations and customers.

 

* Monitor department budgets and report on major variations.

 

* Mentor and lead the Quality Department safety team.

Requirements

Education and Experience

 

* Practical experience in quality system implementation and auditing, expert knowledge and understanding of IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and experience in establishing and implementing strategic plans for quality policies and procedures.

 

* Preferred experience in the automotive industry.

 

* Must have solid project management, communication, problem solving, and leadership skills.

 

* Must have at least five years of experience at managing direct reports.

 

* A Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Business, or other related field), plus a minimum of three to five years of experience in quality engineering or manufacturing engineering.
