YPN Gives Back to Levi Englert Basketball Tourn. - 2016 01
YPN Members will assist in the concession stand, help with scoreboards, books, game clock and other duties as needed. We are asking volunteers to commit to at least a 2 hour shift and we will need to have 6-8 volunteers per hour. Please RSVP to Jenna Manley at jmanley@cardet.com with the hours that you would like to work. Proceeds from the Levi Englert Basketball Tournament benefit the Boys & Girls Club.
Levi Englert was an active Joplin youth who loved all things sports related, but especially loved his days playing basketball at the Boy’s Club. Levi was a bright student who excelled in school and wanted to play professional basketball when he grew up. His family and friends were the highlight of his life and was always known to do anything for anyone. During his childhood, most everything revolved around Levi’s sporting events, basketball tournaments and camps. Levi was a lifelong resident of Joplin and was the son of Frank and Kelley Englert, brother of Stormi Nordstrom. Levi’s life ended tragically in a car accident at the age of 15. Frank and Kelley were determined for something greater to come from the loss of their son, and formed the Levi Englert Memorial Basketball Tournament. After thousands of area sports teams participated in the tournament for many years, the idea to build the Levi Englert Memorial Gymnasium came to life. Stephanie learned about human trafficking from her father, Joe Garman, who had been working in Southeast Asia for many years. As she began to research the issue, she felt compelled to stand up for trafficked and exploited children. She co-founded Rapha House in 2003, and continues to work tirelessly on behalf of children everywhere. She serves as the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Rapha House, but she still believes that being a mother is the most important job in her life. She lives in Joplin, MO along with her husband, Brandon, and their three children.
