Leadership Joplin - 2015 06 Local Government Session
Engaging Future Community Leaders
Leadership Joplin is a program developed by the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by community businesses to identify, cultivate and motivate future community leaders. Leadership Joplin is in its 32nd year with more than 750 graduates. This informative and thought provoking program introduces participants to the community, exposes them to its challenges and requires them to fully participate in the 12 session curriculum. In addition, Leadership Joplin provides a strategic curriculum to enhance participants’ leadership skills and creates a dialogue for discussion on relevant topics and assessment of case studies, ultimately supporting the Chamber’s strategic initiatives and goals.
Session Objectives
· The local government session exists to increase awareness of the duties, responsibilities and opportunities of city and county government.
· Awareness of opportunities to serve in local government roles and levels in local government.
· Have a clear understanding of how city leaders develop the vision and goals for the city.
· Role of local officials
· Duties and responsibilities of departments and/or agencies in our local government that have a profound effect on our quality of life in our community.

YPN Gives Back to River Cleanup - 2015 06
Gives Back is partnering with Social Events and Recycle Joplin for the second annual YPN River Cleanup on Elk River. We'll float the Elk River in canoes (either 5 or 8 miles depending on water levels). Along the way we'll collect recyclables and trash. Canoes, trash bags and good times are provided. Space is limited, and reservations for this event MUST be made by June 19. A 15-passenger van is available for ride share but again, space is limited so please select ride share when RSVPing if you would like to be in the van. The van and anyone wishing to caravan will leave the Chamber at 10:30 a.m. and we will meet in the parking lot of River Ranch Resort at noon.
