Engaging Future Community Leaders

Leadership Joplin is a program developed by the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by community businesses to identify, cultivate and motivate future community leaders. Leadership Joplin is in its 32nd year with more than 750 graduates. This informative and thought provoking program introduces participants to the community, exposes them to its challenges and requires them to fully participate in the 12 session curriculum.  In addition, Leadership Joplin provides a strategic curriculum to enhance participants’ leadership skills and creates a dialogue for discussion on relevant topics and assessment of case studies, ultimately supporting the Chamber’s strategic initiatives and goals.

 

Session Objectives

=       The communications session exists to give participants the understanding of the role communication plays in leadership effectiveness.

=       Participants will be exposed to appropriate media responses/interview techniques

YPN "ED" Talk with Steve Graddy - 2015 03 - UPDATED
** UPDATE ** Originally, this EDTalk was being led by Ms. Paula Baker, Presiden and CEO of Freeman Health System.  Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict, Ms. Baker will be unable to attend the EDTalk.  However, we are fortunate to hear from Freeman Health System CFO, Mr. Steve Graddy who will speak on "Managing Life's Priorities."

Steve Graddy joined Freeman in 1988 and has served in various progressive capacities including Controller, Vice President of Finance, and, since 2002, Chief Financial Officer.

He serves on the Boards of Joplin Metro Emergency Transportation System, George A. Spiva Center for the Arts, Joplin Regional Economic Development Association, Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center, and United Way of Southwest Missouri & Southeast Kansas. He previously served on the Access Family Care Community Health Center Board, Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Board, the Joplin Public Schools Board of Education and the City of Joplin Sales Tax Oversight Committee.

Mr. Graddy graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in accounting.
